How do I reset the Mailbox Password on my Nortel Telephone System?

This operation will reset your mailbox password to 0000.  You can then login to your voicemail box with that number and it will prompt you to change your password.

1. Press the "Feature" button followed by 985.  This will tell you how many digits are in the Directory Number (how many digits there are in your voice mail box number or phone extension).  Make a note of the number of digits.  It should be ##, ###, ####, (two, three, or four digits) and will most likely be three digits.
    
2. Press the "Feature" button followed by 983 and the display will show, "log".  Press the button underneath the word "log".
   
   Enter 120000 if two digits were found in step #1.
   Enter 1020000 if three digits were found in step #1.
   Enter 10020000 if four digits were found in step #1.
   
   Press the button underneath the word, "OK".
    
3. Press the button underneath the word, "mbox" followed by the button underneath the word, "chng".  Enter the number of the mailbox you want to reset (this is your mailbox number).
    
4. The display will show "password".  Press the button underneath the word, "reset".  Now press the "rls" button (release button).  
    
5. You have just reset your mailbox password to 0000.  Now just login to your mailbox using the password of 0000 and you will be prompted to change your password.
